Day 01: Cusco – Mollepata – Challa cancha – Soraypampa (walking distance – 13 km/8 miles)

At 5:00 AM, we will arrive at your hotel to pick you up and begin the 3-hour journey to Mollepata. Here we can enjoy hot teas. Soon, we will continue travelling toward Challacancha. Our complete team will be attentive in bringing us assistance and will accompany us in the following days. Next, we will start this adventure in admiring the canyon of Challacancha and the panoramic view of Salkantay (6264 MASL – 20551 FASL) and Humantay (5200 MASL – 17060 FASL). The first part of this trek is in a zigzag form until we arrive at the Inca canal. From here, we continue on the path until our first campsite at Soraypampa, located at an altitude of 3850 MASL – 12631 FASL. When we arrive, we will have a short rest and enjoy a nutritious lunch. In the afternoon, we will hike one hour up to Humantay Lake, which is located at the base of Humatay glacier and the snowy mountain Humantay. After admiring this natural beauty, we will return to our campsite.

Day 02: Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Wayracmachay – Chaullay (walking distance – 22 km/13.6 miles)

At 6:30 AM, we will be ready to trek to the base of Salkantay. We will ascend gradually toward Salkantaypampa (4150 MASL – 13615 FASL). This is located between two important mountains with steep, spiking forms. We will advance at our own pace to Suyroqocha (4480 MASL – 14698 FASL), where we will take a rest before continuing to the Salkantay Pass (4630 MASL – 15190 FASL). From this point, we will appreciate the impressive glaciers and high, rugged mountain peaks. After admiring the beauty here, we will continue, now descending toward Wayracmachya (3911 MASL – 12831 FASL) where we will have our lunch, enjoying the view of the sacred Andes. After lunch, we will advance toward Rayanpata (3388 MASL – 11115 FASL). From here, we will have about 2.5 hours of walking until we reach our campsite in Chawllay (2850 MASL – 9350 FASL). This is the place where, after a hard trek, you will be able to take a much-deserved shower and have maximum relaxation.

Day 03: Challway – Playa Sahuayacu – Lucamabamba (walking distance – 16 km/9.9 miles)

At 6:30 AM, we will start another interesting day, this time walking through thick vegetation, admiring waterfalls, and finding tropical fruits. We will arrive at the town of Playa Sahuayacu (2200 MASL – 7217 FASL) and transportation will be waiting for us to take us to our last campsite at Lucmabamba (2050 MASL – 6725 FASL). After lunch, in the afternoon we will have an opportunity to see the coffee harvest and process of drying, roasting, shelling, grinding, and brewing artisanal, local coffee. Later, we will visit the hot springs of Cocalmayo (1450 MASL – 4757 FASL). Feeling very relaxed and renewed, it will be time to rest up for the last day of trekking tomorrow.

Day 04: Lucmabamba – Llactapata – Hidroeléctrica – Machupicchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes) (walking distance – 19 km/11.8 miles)

At 6:45 AM, we will start our trek toward Llactapata (2590 MASL – 8497 FASL). This last stretch, we will walk a part of the famous Inca Trail network. We will ascend first on a zig-zag path until we arrive at Chilcapata where a spectacular view appears of the high jungle and the Andes convered in snow! A few minutes later, we will be arriving to the site of Llactapata. Here, we will appreciate its impressive architecture and also have a view of the wonder of Machu Picchu (2400 MASL – 7874 FASL). After resting here, we will continue descending in a zig-zag for 2 hours more until we arrive at Hidroeléctrica (1800 MASL – 5905 FASL). We will have our lunch here before boarding a train for 30 minutes to arrive at Machupicchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes) (2000 MASL – 6561 FASL). We will go directly to our hotel and, in the evening, will enjoy our dinner.

Machupicchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes) – Machu Picchu Site – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

At 5:30 AM, you will be picked up at the hotel and we will board our bus for 30 minutes to go to the archeological complex of Machu Picchu! There, we will have an approximately 2-hour tour of the site to visit the most distinctive and important points of this regal city. We will visit the agricultural sector, Sun Temple, Temple of the Three Windows, the sacred plaza, and the Temple of the Condor. Fro here, you will have free time to continue enjoying teh site at your own pace. If you would like to, you can walk to the Incan Bridge or the Sun Gate which will undoubtedly offer you some unique views!
