The Nazca Lines
Description
At 04:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel to begin our tour in the direction of Paracas. Upon arrival, a representative will assist you in making your way to the port by approximately 8:00am, when we will board a boat and set sail for the Ballestas Islands. Early on in the boat ride we will bear witness to the enormous Candelabra, famous for puzzling people around the world as to how and why it was made. Our local guide will explain some of the most likely reasons for the making of the Candelabra, and attempt to shed some light on its importance to the ancient peoples of Paracas. Afterwards we will continue on our way to the Ballestas Islands to witness the bustling wildlife community there. Highlights include a wide variety of local and migratory sea birds and sea lions. After returning to dry land, we will set off in the direction of Pisco airport. Once we get there you will receive an orientation before taking flight over the majestic Nazca Lines. You will bear witness to a variety of images carved in the sand, as well as other geometric patterns that crisscross the sprawling plain. Throughout the flight, we will attempt to shed some light on possible reasons for the existence of the lines, whose purpose is not concretely understood. Upon our return to the airport our guide will help us in arranging lunch. In the afternoon, we will be ready to hop back on the bus that will bring you back to Lima where our service will end.
